Learn to Identify Wild Edible and Medicinal Mushrooms

This 2 hour course will supply you with all the basic tools, resources, and terminology to safely identify most wild mushrooms that grow in Michigan.

We will discuss how to visually identify and accurately describe mushrooms in general, as well as specifically covering around a dozen of the more desirable and easy to identify edible and medicinal species that grow in Michigan.

In addition to learning how to ID mushrooms, we will discuss the habitats, season, and associated plants for each of these species.

Each participant will be provided a link to the slideshow presentation which covers all the material for the class, as well as a list of books, websites, and other resources for learning more.

The same day we will be hosting a Fungus: Friend, Food, and Medicine class from 11:00am-2:00pm, with a 1 hour break between classes.

Participants that sign up for both classes will receive their choice of a half pound mix of their favorite mushrooms, or a mushroom grow kit worth $30. Tickets are sold separately for $60, learn more here:
